Access Denied, Windows 2003 Server, DTS Active X Component?

  • Got a DTS package that worked fine scheduled as a job before they migrated one of the servers from one service center to another.

DTS Package runs as job on Server A (nothing changed on this server) which goes to Server B (this server was replaced with new server in new location across town - so it may not be exactly like original server) picks up a file in an FTP share folder and then does something with it. Basically the Job failes when it tries to access the FTP share.

SQL Server Agent account same as SQL Server Account on both servers, is local administator on both servers, both can log on locally. Administration group has full control of share. Name of Server B is configured via DTS Properties.

Security swears up and down they don't have a group policy that would reverse Local Admin rights. Any suggestions?

    Ariadne...

  • Got a little more information. Not sure if it has anything to do with it..

The packages that are failing were packages which the developer "modified" with his client tools on his desktop. He had both 2000 and 2005 installed, so he essentially upgraded the DTS packages without knowing it. I tried to log onto the server and run the packages as the service account, but because the custtask.dll on the server was still the 2000 version, I couldn't open the package.

The developer is now recreating the package using the 2000 version of custtask.dll and we'll see if that clears up the Access Denied problems as well.
