I am experiencing periodic issues connecting over the network with this error:
The folowing error occured when connecting to the database:
Error -2147467259 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.
Error -2147467259 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionOpen [Connect(]).
After a reboot of the client workstation, a connection is re-established. Is this a problem with DNS/WINS or a dropped connection to SQL? There are no other DNS/WINS issues at all currently, but I did notice that when the error was appearing a ping to the server displayed the server only, not the FQDN. The FQDN is specified in Sytem DSN in the ODBC connection.

Suggestions I found were make sure SQL Agent is running and check your timeout; you may need to increase the length of timeout...
Good hunting...
I wasn't born stupid - I had to study.
