I sure wish JC would get off his high horse once in awhile. His constant diatribe about portability is a joke. Then he berates posters for not making things clear. Has he ever actually looked at his posts? They sure have the look of an archaic programming language that he constantly bitches about attempting to recreate in sql. Why does he try to recreate it in an HTML forum? Seriously...the leading ">>>" went away from nearly every forum ever somewhere around 1998 or so. He comes across as a crotchety old opinionated bastard who is contradicts himself over and over by demonstrating the he himself is guilt of the very things he can't believe somebody else is so stupid for doing. Sorry...needed to get this out. I really enjoy the last year or so where his venomous attacks and mindless ventures into things that nobody in the real world experiences was quite nice. Unfortunately it has ended and he is back. :angry:
I agree, Sean. He needs to put his white horse out to pasture and go quietly into the good night. I am just as tired of his constant diatribe on portability and only writing standard SQL. I don't care about the standard as much as I do about writing high performing and scalable code for the database engine I am currently using, be that MS SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or whatever.
Just how often do organizations change their underlying database systems?
