We just finished a memorial for Gareth Swanepoel. He was an amazing person and someone I wish I’d gotten to known better. Several times during the memorial hearing about him made me realize I want to be a better person. Now, I’m not saying I’m a bad person, just that I want to be better. Something Gareth was quoted as saying came up a few times. “They need help, we must help.” This struck me deeply. To a large degree this is something I see from the SQL community all the time. It’s something I personally try to live by and something I’m going to make a point of emphasizing even more from this point on. It’s been a tough year and I don’t seeing it getting a lot easier any time soon.
We all need help right now. We must help.
