I will be back in Seattle this year attending the 2025 PASS Data Community Summit. This will mark my fourth year attending the Summit (I also attended one year in Orlando) and the second year speaking. My topic this year is: Quantum Computing and Its Impact on Data.
I recently gave a similar talk at the Techno Security & Digital Forensics East conference in Wilmington, NC but that one was focused primarily on the impact to cybersecurity. Currently, that impact is relatively narrow. With data, the same security concerns are present, but there is also the opportunity to solve problems and do things that are not possible with classical computing. While that time has not yet come, recent advances in quantum computing indicates it will soon (relatively speaking) be at hand. Because of that, especially with the security-related concerns, we need to begin planning and taking action now.
If you’re attending this year’s PASS Data Community Summit, I hope to see you there. If you are wanting to go but can’t afford it, the scholarship application process closes Monday, June 30, 2025, so you have the weekend to apply.
