When Tomáš Tucek, Jaroslav Reken, and Roman Lánský founded Joyful Craftsmen in 2014, they had a clear vision of how they wanted to approach data projects. They didn’t want to offer a one-size-fits-all solution that could simply be adapted for every new client. Instead, they wanted to go deeper, understand each company’s environment, its data, the relationships between them, and the problem that needed to be solved before designing a solution suited to the specific situation.
It was never just about choosing the right tool. It meant taking the time to truly immerse themselves in the client’s situation, understand why things worked the way they did, and identify where the real opportunities for change lay. Only then did it make sense to start designing a specific solution.
This is the principle on which Joyful Craftsmen was built. Over time, the company has grown in size, its projects have expanded in scope, and its technological expertise has broadened, but the underlying philosophy has remained unchanged. Client relationships should be built on partnership, communication should be open, and technology should serve as a means of addressing a specific need rather than becoming an end in itself.
From the very beginning, the goal was never to deliver a particular technology simply because it was the latest trend. It was about finding the right path for each individual client.
The first major test came in Switzerland
The founders brought experience from a renowned Swiss IT company, where they had been responsible for key projects for local clients. Switzerland later became an important market for Joyful Craftsmen itself, as well as an environment where the company’s original vision of quality was quickly put to the test beyond its home market.
The Swiss market sets high standards for precision and the quality of delivered solutions. A strong presentation or an interesting technological concept is not enough. The result must work in day-to-day operations and meet the expectations of demanding clients. Joyful Craftsmen gradually established itself in this market, and the experience gained in Switzerland became one of the important foundations for the company’s further growth.
We grew, but our original approach remained
As the number of projects increased, so did the number of clients, locations, and industries. Today, Joyful Craftsmen works with companies in Switzerland, Germany, London, Prague, and Bratislava, with experience spanning banking, insurance, energy, aviation, manufacturing, and retail.
As the company grew, the nature of its projects also evolved. A question that initially seems straightforward, such as how to connect data from several systems or build reporting on top of it, often turns out to be part of a much broader challenge. Data architecture, data quality, governance, security, analytics, automation, and artificial intelligence all come into play, along with the way an entire organization works with data.
The more complex the projects became, the more important it was to view data as a whole rather than as a series of separate technical tasks.
This is why Joyful Craftsmen gradually expanded its capabilities across the entire data landscape. The goal was not to add more services simply to broaden the portfolio, but to be able to address the interconnected challenges that naturally arise in complex data projects.
Choosing the right technology for each situation
As the scope of its projects expanded, so did the company’s technological expertise. Today, Joyful Craftsmen works across major data and cloud platforms, including Microsoft, Databricks, SAP, Palantir, Snowflake, Tableau, Google Cloud, Keboola, and dbt.
However, the number of technologies itself is not what matters most. What matters more is the ability to choose a solution based on each client’s specific situation, rather than adapting a project to a single platform or product from the outset. Every company has a different technological environment, different priorities, and a different level of data maturity, so the right approach cannot always be the same.
Technology therefore comes into the picture only once it is clear what the solution needs to achieve and the environment in which it will operate. This technological independence makes it possible to choose tools based on the project, rather than shaping the project around the tools.
The next chapter: Joining forces with Revolt BI

The year 2026 marked one of the biggest milestones in Joyful Craftsmen’s history. The company joined forces with Revolt BI, a specialist in business intelligence and modern data solutions that shares a similar approach to work and a similar DNA. Together, the two teams now comprise approximately 100 specialists, offering one of the broadest ranges of expertise in data, analytics, and AI in Central Europe.
Under one roof, the company can now cover the entire data lifecycle, from strategy and data architecture through data platforms, business intelligence, and advanced analytics to artificial intelligence, automation, governance, and security. But the purpose of joining forces goes beyond building a larger team. It brings broader experience, more specialized expertise, and the ability to tackle more complex challenges without having to bring together several separate partners to deliver a complete solution.
Joining forces with Revolt BI changed the company’s size and capabilities, not the principles on which Joyful Craftsmen was founded.
This is precisely what matters for the company’s future development. Growth should strengthen its ability to handle complex projects and offer clients broader expertise, but it should not come at the expense of the approach that has defined Joyful Craftsmen since its earliest projects.
Why Joyful Craftsmen?
The company’s name actually captures what has remained unchanged for more than a decade. “Craftsmen” represents dedication to the craft, attention to detail, experience, and the willingness to find solutions even when no simple template exists. “Joyful” is a reminder that this craft should also be something people genuinely enjoy.
Data can be complex, client environments even more so, and the path to a successful outcome is rarely straightforward. But that is a significant part of what Joyful Craftsmen does: untangling complex problems, connecting information that was previously separate, and gradually turning it into something people can understand, use, and benefit from.
