"An instance with the same name is already installed on this computer. To proceed with SQL Server Setup, provide a unique instance name."
I encountered this error everytime i tried to install SQL Server 2005 on my home PC...I have tried all the methods(clearing registry, uninstalling and deleting anything remotely related to SQL on my PC)....nothing worked..please provide a solution ..i need SQL Server 2005 for my college project work...n i dont want to format my PC...Please help....

There is an orphaned key in the registry, which one is impossible for anyone on this site to guess. Your best bet is to download a registry cleanup tool.
