     I feel you had missed out some steps in between ,follow these steps to configure linked server sucessfully

1) Product name :  Oracle

2) Datasource    :  SID of Oracle database

3) Provider string is not mandatory

For security

!)Be made using this security context

    Remotelogin    : Username of Oracle database

    With password : Password

  By these configuration linked server will work file .
