I do it by running the container mmc and then adding Performance Monitor with the configuration and counters I'm interested in.
That works too, and can be saved to a desktop icon that works without command-line shenanigans.

I didn't select any of the answers because I save my perfmon settings and reference them in the ICON that I have setup on the desktop. If I want the identical setup on a different box, I just copy'n'paste the ICON to the other box and I'm done. Works fine, fails safe, and drains to the bilge. BigGrin

Heh... and, again, this is why I hate tests. Wink

And just saw Andy's post. Same thing.

--Jeff Moden

RBAR is pronounced ree-bar and is a Modenism for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
Stop thinking about what you want to do to a row... think, instead, of what you want to do to a column.
If you think its expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur. -- Red Adair

When you put the right degree of spin on it, the number 318 is also a glyph that describes the nature of a DBAs job. Wink
