Trying to figure out what some fields in dbo.Catalog are used for

    Hi all,

    Is there someone here able to tell me what the ParentID field is used for in ReportServer.dbo.Catalog? I think it's a pointer to the folder/subfolder where a report resides, but I'm not positive about it.

    Pretty much. The catalog has more than just reports - it has reports, folders, data sources, report parts, shared datasets, etc. ParentID is whatever object is above it hierarchically. The report url "default" page has no parent so it's null. Everything else is an object below that.
