In-memory feature

  • Hi folks,
I need a bit a help here. My client was migrating their databases from SQL Server 2014 to SQL Server 2017.
They were detaching their databases from SQL Server 2014 and attaching them on SQL Server 2017.
The problem is that one of their databases had the "Hekaton" In-memory optimisation enabled and the _mod file was "accidentally" deleted and therefore, making it impossible to be attached without that _mod file.
    Has anyone had this issue?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,

Sorry I've not, could you not re-attach back to the 2014 instance and then back that up and restore it to your 2017? personally when moving versions editions I prefer a full backup and restore than a detach and attach, the full backup gives me a 'get out of jail free card' if I need it.

If it wont attach to your 2014 then I think you going to have to go back to your latest backup, hopefully you took one just before you attempted the move.

    Thanks,

    Nc

  • I agree; backup and restore if you can.
