Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authenication (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18452)

  • All of a sudden I'm getting the following error:

Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 18452)

I was working fine and then I tried to create a new connection.

I can connect when I RDP to the Server.

I asked someone that I made sysadmin to connect and they did not have any problems.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

  • Are you receiving this after your domain migration?

  • You may get this error if the login cannot be validated by AD. Did you find anything in the application or Security logs ?

  • Check to see if your account has been locked out in AD (I've had this happen before)

  • I had this problem the other day because of an issue with the domain controller (i.e. it wasn't specifically a SQL Server issue).
