I have a problem with my users trying to connect to SQL Server 7.0 SP3 with Enterprise Manager. It turns out that when they get connected, after some minutes working they lose network connection with the server. This occurs randomly.
Pinging from the client gives the classic error message "Request timed out" and from the server to the client gives a cryptical message "PING transmit failed, error code 1314"
Can someone give me a clue or just has suffered the same problem?
Thanks

You may try forcing TCP instead of named pipes its been so long since I've had to work with sql 7 I'm not sure where the settings are.

Thanks Wes,
I tried this way but did not manage to make it run. I was trying to find if Named Pipes work over another protocol or if it is needed to install another protocol in the server but I did not get so much information about it. i will keep looking for it
