Unable to see Repository packages in SQL Server 7

  • I have a new system that I have tried to build to replace a much older and inadequate machine.  When I load SQL Server 7 and restore the db - I cannot see the DTS packages.  Does anyone know why this occured?  I cannot move to SQL Server 2000 - because of issues with a legacy application using the db.  Did I do something wrong in the install?  I have done this same install on several other machines with no issue.

I appreciate any help anyone can give me.

    Thanks

    geri

  • I seem to remember problems with not being able to view DTS packages in SQL 7 if the service pack they were created on was higher than that on the server.

If it were me i'd check that the SP is the same or higher than it was previously

  • I checked the SQL Server version.  There is a difference - so I brought the msdb from another server that was the same version as the one I am trying to create - still can't see the DTS pkgs.  Do you mean the OS version?

  • No, just the SQL Service pack, thinking back to when we were on SQL 7 we had several occurances where people on a higher SP had opened and saved the DTS package on the server making them unusable from it (and they certainly couldn't be opened unless your SP was at least the same as the one on the pc used to save it).

This sounds a little different to what your problem is, sorry if it hasn't helped.
