Need good programming tool for SQL

  • Looking for a good programming tool for developing SQL code. My programming experience is limited on SQL since I just do admin work on our SQL machine. One of our programmers is looking to do development work on SQL and is looking for tools, or software that is user friendly and easy to use for a dummy.

    Thanks.

  • What do you mean by 'developing SQL code'? Creating stored procs? Then I would suggest Query Analyzer, you really don't need more.

  • The are some decent template based tools out there but you still have to give thought to your goal and what you need to add to those templates. Query Analyzer for SQL 2000 has templates, and ProcBlaster from LockwoodTech is good http://www.lockwoodtech.com/index_pb.htm. But when it comes down to it you need to question and get experience to really understand what works best.

  • I use Query analyzer or notepad......

I would also tell your programmer to learn SQL or stay out of the server.....Just my opinion, but wiat till he actually develops something, people start to use it, and you have to support it.....OMG.....no more weekends or suppers with your family for you......
