Activiation of USB DAT Drive.

    Sir,

    I have received HP Server with USB DAT Drive. The following installation have been done.

    (1) O/S - MS Window Server 2003 -R2

    (2) MS SQL Server 2000

    To take the databse in tape through USB DAT Drive ,it has been seen that there is no activiation against tape option button in SQL Server 2000 when taking backup of Database.

    Kindly advise how to take backup of database in Tape.

    SQL Server may not see a USB DAT drive as a valid location.

    In any case, you don't want to backup to tape directly in case there are issues with hardware or media. Run the backup to disk and then use a regular NTBAckup to back that to tape.
