I can setup proxy accounts on 2000, but sql 7, I'm stuck. Can't find out what account it uses, or how to change it. Probably obvious, but I can find it.

A long time ago since I did this in SQL7... I seem to recall that the account name is fixed, and must be CMDEXEC (or whatever). BOL should have the details.

SQL Server generates the account and password, and you cannot set either.
The account is a local account on the SQL Server, and so is limited to access to the local server (unless SQL Server is on a domain controller).
You can get to the info in Enterprise Manager, SQL Server Agent properties.
