I Struggle

  • I set my expectations for this technology high, because when it works, it works well. Then yes, I get frustrated with the bit that doesn't or is painful to get working.

  • I agree with you, Grant! If we have an attitude of gratitude, we'll have a better outlook on life! While our circumstances won't change, our outlook and approach will change and will greatly affect the outcome.

  • Love what you've just written. Perhaps  'cause I can relate to it so much. You made my day. Keep up the gratitude. Thanks, Grant.

  • I know exactly where you come from, and thank God you said it.

The positivity of youth: "Good news, Dad, your airbag works"!  They know that if they scratch the car, they are in the doghouse.  If they total it, I'm just grateful they are still alive.

Buck Woody said at a conference, "The saddest day of your life is when you realise the next generation of programmers are better than you.  The happiest day is when you realise it doesn't matter".

There's an element of the older we get, the better we were, though.

Part of what we do is to hold ourselves and others to the standard we wish to attain.  The reality is that it gets harder to maintain that level of performance.  It's a tough transition to accept that people value us for different things than what we were valued for in our youth.  The important bit to focus on is that we are still valued.

Dude, you should be writing the editorials.

Right there with you though. Thanks!
