Any BIxPress users out there?

  • We use a third party logging framework from what is now SolarWinds (originally PragmaticWorks). They announced that the product has hit end of life. I'm curious to know how many BIxPress users are out there, and how they plan to replace the framework. Use custom logging handlers, or another third party product?

    Thanks

    Luther

  • Normally, when a company buys another company, like Solar Winds did, and the announce the discontinuation of a product that was owned by the company that was bought, they also let you know of the replacement by the company that bought the other one out.

So, my question is, have you asked Solar Winds this question?

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

  • Yes. I have asked that question since the news was first announced last year, but no answer has been forthcoming as of yet.

  • Seems like the obvious answer is....SSISDB custom logging level + PowerBI.

We are just starting on that journey now because not only is BiXpress no longer supported but it also demands an old version of 2019 Visual Studio that if upgraded will disable BiXpress extension.  At anytime security scans could require you to upgrade your Visual Studio and thus render bixpress useless.

So on the lookout for the best PowerBI dashboard that someone has built.  There are number of old examples out there from a few years ago.  Seems like prime consulting opportunity for someone to bring in their own custom PowerBI dashboard into a shop and set it up for them with already tested custom logging level.  Need to replace same functionality that we've used Bixpress for including variable changes and near real-time monitoring with full GUI visibility into control and dataflows.
