SQL Transition Plan

  • Hi Folks

I am going to take a transition from one of the outgoing DBA Services company and need to make the checklist for the questions i can ask from the leaving company (DBA). All SQL Server related.

I know most of the outgoing guys will not give complete information. I am looking to make a thorough checklist so that its a good transition in the end.

I know each environment is different but just a generalized checklist (through one) is what i am looking for.

Can you please share your views on this ?

    Thanks

  • You really only need to know one thing and that's only if you don't have sysadmin privs on all of the machines. That would be, where are the "SA" passwords kept?

Virtually everything else is up to you.

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.
