Cant stop sql server

  • I couldn't add databases, so I attempted to give myself the privilege.  It wouldn't let me.  So I went to SQL Server Configuration Manager>SQL Server(SQLSERVEREXPRESS)>Properties>Startup Parameters to add privileges.  But it's greyed out.  So I tried to stop the sql server so that I could add the parameters, but stop will not work.  Pause is useless as well.

You will have you ask someone who has sysadmin to amend your permissions so you can add databases.

    Thanks

  • IT doesn't know how to do that.

  • OK, based on this and your previous posting, I believe we're back to having SQL Server reinstalled on your PC.  When they get to the "Database Engine Configuration" page of the install, on the "Server Configuration" tab, make sure they either use "Mixed Mode" and give you the SA password, or they use "Windows Authentication Mode" and add your network login to the "Specify SQL Server Administrators" section at the bottom.  I've attached a screenshot of this page for reference.
