Installing R-Services (in Database) after Service Pack 1

  • I've a 2016 Server which has been patched to SP1, and I need to install R-Services (in database). I've installed R-Services successfully where the SQL Version is still on RTM on two other servers, so I'm familiar with the process.

According to these two articles Microsoft Advisory Team and Install R-Services without Internet all I should need to do the install is copy the relevant CAB files to a folder on the server and work through the install process. For SP1 the articles say so use SRO_3.2.2.15000_1033.cab an SRS_8.0.3.15000_1033.cab. On the relevant R-Services install section I select the appropriate folder and select Next. The problem I have is the Next Button isn't enabled unless the recommended RTM CAB files (SRO_3.2.2.803_1033.cab and SRS_8.0.3.0_1033.cab) are in the folder.

It looks like I have to install the RTM version before I can install the SP1 version, but it also looks like there will be no way to then install the SP1 version. I also have no way of knowing if the RTM version will work properly with SQL Server SP1.

Has anyone been in a situation like this? Any help with getting this working would be great.
