Recommendations for Effective Online DBA training

  • I want to get one of my staff up to speed on the DBA fundamentals. She has a bunch of hands-on seat of the pants experience, but I think it would be useful if she went through a sequential curriculum that hits all the key elements. It is not necessary for her to get certifieid.

  • I don't work for them, although I know I recommend them a lot, but try Brent Ozar Unlimited, starting with their free Accidental DBA 6 Month Training Plan[/url].

They also have paid training courses and a very useful blog.

Also there is Microsoft Virtual Academy. This is free. It's actually blocked at my workplace , but it's pretty good, and allows you to follow a training plan and tick off sections as you go. It's combination of video, PowerPoint and text. I think there are also tests at the end of each section, and you accrue points as you go. Definitely worth a look.
