So I'm teaching myself how to setup log shipping and have been thinking about how this would work with encrypted data. Not TDE, but column / cell data (for example, SSNs)
I've got a functioning Log shipping setup between a pair of SQL 2008 R2 systems, so that's not the problem (no I didn't script the setup, I used the SSMS GUI) For a (very) basic test, I created a table with a passphrase encrypted column of data. Needless to say, that works fine on both ends.
Would I be correct in presuming to get this to work with a certificate (leaving aside the creation of said certificate,) I should be able to restore / import the cert to the Secondary server?
Thanks,
Jason A.
PS. I'm not looking for the code to do this, I'll learn better doing it myself and digging out the answers from BOL / TechNet / MSDN

Never mind, I found it!

It is just a case of restoring the Service Master Key to the Secondary server. I simply hadn't Googled very well when I first started looking for this.
Thanks!
Jason
