very basic question - enterprise manager

    First, I am VERY green. Ok. I noticed MS pulled down the trial enterprise manager edition. Is there any way to create/administer the db either with online tools or from a different (i.e. free) application? I am used to mysql / php combo, and am confused about the necessity of enterprise manager. Can one use a regular telnet client like putty or something to use command-line interface? Thanks in advance

    I prefer to use ISQL myself in a lot of instances. Keep in mind that's how it was done before microsoft went down the "we don't need a dba" path, and created all the purdy GUI's.......
