SQL Server 2000 Developer installation problem!

Hello guys and girls!
Im new to SQL SERVER 2000, and wanted to install the developer version on my computer. However each time I start the installation process, the wizard will show me a screen where I can select the version I want to install, but when I select "Install Database Server" nothing show up and when I use the Windows Task Manager, I can see that sqlstp.exe and setupsql.exe are active in the process pannel.
I have : window xp pro sp2
I did try to run the setupsql.exe with window 98 compatibility mode but wizard still doenst show up.
Please help me.

Scan your computer for a file named like sqlstp*.* ... I believe sqlstp.exe produces a log file. Please post this and we may be able to help.

First, thanks for replying.
I have been able to fix the problem by logging on my local administrator, and now the wizard show up and work normally.
However, other problem came up, when the installation seem to end normally, it pop up a message saying: " Setup is starting the server and installing your chosen configuration..." and it will just stop there. I have waited for 1 hour and still the same message and the installation won't end.

Is the windows firewall on ? If so, turn it off for the installation. And give it another try (there are issues with installing on XP SP2, I cannot recall the exact links at this time).

My Firewall was off when I installed SQL2000.

Try the installation without "window 98 compatibility mode" and choose "mixed security".
