I've installed SQL server 2005 on windows server 2003 and also I want to instal a DB based software on this server. While installing this software it tries to start and stop MSSQLSERVER service and it fails (time out). When I checked the service MSSQLSERVER and tried to stop it manually it is too slow and almost impossible. I'd be glad if anybody help me to resolve this problem

I believe I'd contact the people who made the DB based software and get them to fix the problem. You could actually be voiding a warranty if you try to do it yourself.

How did you stop SQL Server and what do you mean "impossible"? It can take time for the system to shut down as transactions need to be rolled back to ensure a consistent state of the data.
