Hi folks!
I´ve setup the email profile and can send email by using sql-statments. Now i want to configure an operator, filled in the earlier configured email adress and tried to test by using the test button.
It failed with the message that the sqlserveragent-Mailservice is not started.
The agent is running and working. Any ideas?

i have configured the profile in sql mail too, but didn´t help.

Expand support services.
Right click sql mail.
Select properties.
Make sure dropdown says 'MS Exchange Server'
Click on test to make sure it works.
Also log on to the server as the account that the sql agent runs under. Make sure you can open email. Configure to make sure.

As i mentioned above that´s what i did so far. "Normal" email with xp_sendmail works fine.

Have you checked that you've set SQL Agent Mail to use the same profile as SQL mail? Sometimes people forget that they're 2 different entities and only do one of them.
