SQL 2000, Win2k OS, DB size is 550 gig.
We're doing database dumps to a Fiber attached SAN. We've checked all the drivers and everything is up-to-date, Firmware etc. We keep getting partially through the dump and we get the below message. SQL Client has server name in it (even though it's local) using TCP IP, Dynamically configged port etc. Any ideas?
Thanks,

Have you checked the Windows System and Application event logs ? If there are any HBA or network issues they should show up there. You do not mention the SAN vendor (EMC, Clarion, Hitachi) ... this is important because each vendor has it's own utilities and logs. Also, do you have a SAN admin ? If so, they are an important link in solving this issue.

HP SAN, EVA. We don't have any errors in the event logs or SAN related logs.
SAN Admin is no help, he says if there aren't messages in the event view, there aren't any. He doesn't log them on the appliance.

I'm not familiar with HP. Are you dual-pathed to the SAN ? Can your SAN admin change the ports that you are using ? Maybe a call (or support case) with the vendor is in order ...
