Hi,
I have a MSDE installed on a MS WIN2K3 server.
Using the EM and setting up the Maintenance Plan gives me some trouble:
1) In the Complete Backup and the Transaction Log Backup, I can point to a directory on the server; but it isn't saved. When I check my entry, the 'Use this directory' is selected but the location is blank!
2) When I try to specify when old logs are to be deleted I may enter a number, but the dropdown menu containing Hours, Days, Weeks etc. is completely blank!
3) The Backup file extension field is blank; I would expect 'BAK' or 'TRN' as default values.
If you know a cure for this I will be most happy. A solution could be to edit the maintenance scripts directly, duplicating the settings from another server, working OK - but where do I find these scripts?

I've had varying success with Maintenance Plans on MSDE. Some of them just do not work. While others save the plan but are missing parameters on the SQL JOB. Try comparing the parameters of the Backup JOB to one that works. A little digging into BOL about 'sqlmaint ' might help as well.
