Hi,
Does anybody know if it is OK to purchase SQL Server 2000 from the United States for use here in the UK?
Do Microsoft have any objections?
Any help / advice gratefully received.

I don't know exactly but we have been speaking to BT about something similar and they have indicated that we should be able to buy the license in Canada (or secondary hosting site) and transfer it to the UK without any problems.
If you hear otherwise i'd appreciate it if you could pass it on

The current situation:
I have had contact from Microsoft on this matter.
Initially I had a response that stated it was perfectly fine to purchase SQL overseas but that any support would come from the country of origin.
At this point I am thinking 'that's great'.
The next day I receive an email from a different member of the Microsoft team stating that I could purchase SQL whilst overseas on business or holiday for my own use but I may not use an online retailer to make the purchase.
After the second email I responded to say that I was now confused, who is giving me the correct answer. I then received a third email to say that they were seeking clarification from head office and they would get back to me asap.
I will post back when I have a more definitive answer. It's pretty unbelievable that Microsoft are unprepared for what I thought was a simple question.

To all interested.
I have had a response back from Microsoft Head Office, this is the direct quote:
"We have never allowed for software purchased in the US (in fact outside the EEC) being bought and resold in the UK. However, a customer can buy software anywhere and bring it to the UK for their own use.
