You can use a named range instead of the sheet (sheet has a $ at the end; named ranges don't, and can also specify the column/row for both the starting/ending...

I'm not sure what your data looks like, but this is probably going to be the fastest, most efficient way of doing this.

One thing you may not know is that you can reference variables assigned previously in the select statement:
