Did you try any upgrade \CU or SP install? or is this a fresh installation and you are trying to connect for the first time?

Try installing as administrator. Hope your user have full privilege on that machine.

I even went with the repair mode and couldn't fix it..
Seems like you never had a successful installation. Check windows log and SQL install log which might help you.

Have you done the two things required for prestaging the VCO?
1. Set the option for Protect from accidental deletion on the VCO properties
2. Grant the Cluster Name Object (CNO)...

Try connecting using SSMS as run as administrator.
Hope the domain account you mentioned is login in SQL Server.
Post the full error .

Check the database name from which the backup is taken initially. You can edit the physical name but logical name only when you create a new DB.
