One more...You can execute this in the DB where you want to check
execute sp_MSforeachtable @command1= 'select ''?'' TableName,count(*) NumberOfRecords from ?'
You could do that, but it's horribly slow......

to do this you have a number of options;

you can export different tables from SQL server using the import/export wizard, you just need to select multiple tables in the source.
Or perhaps i am not understanding your issue?

no worries, a good way to see what is going on 'under the hood' of these stored procs is to run sp_helptext
sp_helptext sp_rename
