There's no mention of msdb anywhere in your log.
Also, the entry "recovery is complete" is missing, which suggests that SQL Server hasn't finished recovery yet.
Please restart SQL Server, don't try...

Good point. I'm afraid that hunting down the reason why the expand/noexpand behaviour changed in all the queries is a daunting task.

My friend Gail Shaw suggested that the msdb data files could be read only in the file system. Make sure you check that as well.
