you can restore the backup master database onto another server using a different name and then move the files to the server that is not starting?? Is that posible...

a hotfix addresses a single issue. A service pack is a roll up of many independant hotfixes, etc

if master is truly hosed you will need to rebuild first using the cd

your welcome, give the virtual server idea a crack it'll make an ideal testbed for you and you wont get fired for wrecking it 😉

surely you would restore a backup of the master database from that server that wasn't corrupt
