    OK im getting mixed messages on whether a heartbeat network is needed, Microsoft recommend you dont use one for 2008 onwards as it can have adverse effects.

    The reason it says not recommended is because the node votes are unavailable. What OS are you using?

    I always used to create and configure the Data Directories as below:

    Instance one on Node1:

    Instance Name: AlwaysOnAG1\INS1

    E:\SQLData\INS1

    F:\SQLLogs\INS1

    Instance two on node2:

    Instance Name: AlwaysOnAG2\INS2

    E:\SQLData\INS2

    F:\SQLLogs\INS2

    If we wanted to use Always on Availability...

    I thought quorum rules indicate you need a odd number for your cluster for fail over or something like that? Then again I am still learning about Always On...
