    Protect the cert by backing it up and securely storing the keys. Restoring master across servers has its own ramifications, so don't do it!!

    Thanks Perry. Again, what is split brain? I have read that whenever private/heartbeat network fails, split brain occurs?

    It happens less and less with the latest versions of Windows...

    sql server 2008 now supports service based SIDs for clustered installations when installing on Windows 2008 and above, instead of the old AD based group config used...
