The script kevin has posted is exactly the script i would use,mit will retain the logins sid and hashed password. The only thing it doesnt extract are server role memberships

why do you want to remove the windows cluster, should you not be getting the cluster groups back online??
Removing a cluster configuration doesn't magically leave the clustered instances in place...
