Select * from <db>.<schema>.<table>

Most modern RAID10 controllers will push very good read performance purely because all the disks in the array are usually used.

to use one common virtual IP, AlwaysOn group with a listener is the only option

options without shared storage are
traditional database mirroring (requires at least std edition of sql server)
AlwaysOn groups (requires at least enterprise edition of sql server)

you have added a listener but I can't see the scripts to configure your readonly routing?

can you provide details of the scripts you used to define the read only routing configuration (obfuscate any computer names and domain, etc)
