He didn't tell if he wanted to load the table from scratch or on a needed basis for further input... we'll have to wait and see

I think something like this will do :
Select T.id, ISNULL(dta.TA, 0) as TA, ISNULL(dtb.TB, 0) as TB from table1 T left outer join
(Select ida, count(*) as TA from table1A...

(actually use parameters passed to a proc to do the insert).

You should ALWAYS (99.9999%) use SP.
Here's an exemple :
CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[AjouterDB] @DbName as varchar(50), @CNStr as varchar(300), @FkServer as int
AS
SET NOCOUNT ON
insert into dbo.Databases (DbName, CnStr, FkServer) values (@DbName,...

Because there's always one CURRENT production ('08/24/2005 13:47', Prunes) in this case. The self inner join would always miss the current production setting as there's nothing > than itself...

In the services console, you can change the run as setting to a new account... or making sure you have the right password there too??

That information is kept in the Scope_Identity() function.
You can send back the information with an output parameter (preffered) or the return >>
Select @NewId = SCOPE_IDENTITY()
