a unique primary key is like saying the white white rabbit. It's redundant and the code parser is likely picking this up.

Makes sense if the # of pages in the index increased a lot. Makes the seek much costlier where the key lookup wasn't that much of a big deal.

You can't use group by in an update.
You have to precompile the data in a derived table and then join back to the base table for the update.
