I think I'm using more of a proactive approach that reactive.
As I said earlier I don't understand isolation levels and locking enough to make recommendations so I won't say anything...

Then you might want to look into replication. Maybe it's 1 way to solve the problem (assuming maybe a BI environement and NOT full OLTP.)

Assuming you do a fetch into it'll loop in the next record.
Are you sure the catch is not preventing the next fetch operation?
Or you could have more than 1 copy...
