And after running that code, I tried taking a full backup and got the errors.
I've pinged in THE expert. Hopefully he knows exactly what's going on.

stupid mistake on my part, its fixed. Was calling be wrong name. I feel dumb.

Well since this is 1 off it could also be a bug in the code. Very unlikely but not impossible I'm afraid.
Did you post the code you ran verbatim?...

Then you have a bug in the import. Check at that line # to see what's different.

Don't delete, create a new blank db (default path).
Then rerun the select into. Maybe you've hit a bug. I'll try repro on my systems later on to...

Can you stop it at 97K and see how big the db is? That would confirm the express limitation theory.

Shrink it to maybe 100 GB then see if and when it grows again.
I also told you to check the default trace to see if maybe a job was doing...
