Sounds to me like you just have a olap query taking a little more ressources the your other "normal" queries.

If you are talking about sql monitor you should be able to see more than that.

In the create table script, comment out the ON 'Data Filegroup 1].
That will let the table be created on your default file group.
After that the inserts will work.

Run the report with profiler on.
See if the query sent via SSRS really sends what you think it sends (you may get a big surprise there).
