    I thought that to use a configuration file, that you had to specify it in the SSIS package itself? I thought that was how it knew to load it.

    Excel is helpfully (:crazy:) doing the conversion for you. Try opening it in Notepad and you'll see that it's just the same as the .txt.

    Excel always screws...
