Nope, you have to specify which file to use using the FILE...

If you are talking about appending subsequent backups to the same file, the problem arises if the file becomes corrupt. If this happens, you lose all the backups contained...

The only setup log files I know of are the ones generated during installation. Those are Windows Event logs.
