Could be to allow code written to use reference cursors from Oracle storded procedures to use cursors returned by SQL Server.
Reference cursors are the only way to return result sets...

If you could post the DDL (CREATE TABLE statement) for each of the tables, some SAMPLE data (meaning something made up that properly represents the problem domain) as a series...

I'd probably consider relocation, but only under two circumstances right now: 1) unemployed with no opportunities locally, 2) my youngest has graduated high school (4 more years).

Of course, if you were willing to pay for MSSQL, you could also look at Oracle or DB2 which both work on Linux 🙂
