Here is another option that won't use a triangular join and scales quite well:

CREATE TABLE dbo.EMPP

(EMPNO INT,

ENAME VARCHAR(20),

SAL INT,

DEPTNO INT

)

INSERT INTO dbo.EMPP

SELECT 7840,'MANISH',2000,10

UNION ALL

SELECT 7399,'GAYLE',3000,10

UNION ALL

SELECT 5389,'SIDHU',7000,20

UNION ALL

SELECT 7690,'ARVIND',3000,20

UNION ALL

SELECT...

You really only need one of those indexes from what I can see. That would be the one that includes all the columns listed in the INCLUDED column lists....

Went back to Slave Boy's thread just now, and I'm wondering, is it just me or do some posts just magically appear where I hadn't seen them before?? This...

I'd go with the EXCEPT as well, you just have to be sure that both queries have the same number oc columns and that they are the ones you want...

I don't see anything in the your query that indicates that you have a triangular join. All criteria are using equality comparisions.

On a totally different subject, but something you should starting thining about. You need to get away from using three (and possibly) four part naming conventions iin your SELECT...
