First of all, forget about the data mining task. It has nothing to do with your requirements.

You must first load the data from the flat files into a relational database...

I think it has more to do with DB2 then with SQL Server or SSIS, so you should probably check out your source.

Probably an issue with QUERYTIMEOUTINTERVAL.

When working with SSIS, forget everything you know about DTS. They are two different products.
